Frequently Asked Questions...

Q: What are your horses like?
A: Our horses must first pass a screening before being accepted into the therapy program.  They must, among many other requirements, have polite ground manners, be well-trained under saddle at all gaits, stand quietly while tied and have no aggression issues or stable vices.  The horses being used in the program currently have a background and work experience in the therapy setting.  To learn more about each of our equine therapists, click on the "Our Staff" tab to the left.

Q: Can I ride your horses if I'm not a client?
A: Our horses are required to maintain a training and conditioning program implemented by able bodied riders.  When volunteers have served a certain number of hours and have paid the lesson fee, they are eligible to participate in lessons when an opening becomes available.  Please note that volunteers are subject to the same guidelines as clients concerning safety issues.

Q: I'm afraid of horses.  Can I still participate?
A: Absolutely!  Clients that have an initial fear of horses are worked with from that level.  We provide a Stable, supportive environment to help clients overcome fears and other issues in their lives.   No prior experience or knowledge of horses is required.
